Wolves fans excited about reported interest in Ruben Dias

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly interested in Benfica defender Ruben Dias – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have responded with huge excitement to the speculation.

The Express and Star reports that Wolves are eyeing the Portugal international in this summer transfer window and are keen on bringing him to the Premier League.

The report details that the 22-year-old does have a hefty £57million release clause with Portuguese club Benfica, but the West Midlands outfit would want to pay significantly less to sign him.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad already has a strong contingent of Portuguese players in it and they are looking to add another.

Dias is a highly-rated centre-back that won the Nations League this summer and has put his name on the map as one of the best young defenders in the business.

The defender was a key player for Benfica last season with 55 appearances across all competitions, which included games in the Champions League, Europa League and Liga NOS.

His agent is Jorge Mendes, who Wolves fans may be pleased to hear considering he’s helped the club pull off several deals in recent years.

A selection of Wolves supporters are desperate for the Benfica youngster to join them and feel he would be a statement signing.

He would surely slip into a back three if he arrived and lend a big hand in the club’s European run.
