Wolves should use Jorge Mendes to beat Manchester United in the race for Portuguese starlet Ruben Dias

Over the past two seasons, Wolverhampton Wanderers have used super-agent Jorge Mendes to take charge of their recruitment.

And this plan has been an eye-catching success as he has transformed Wolves from a mid-table Championship side into a team competing for Europe in the Premier League.

Using his links with a host of Portuguese stars, Mendes has brought the likes of Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Rui Patricio and others to Molineux.

And the next Portuguese talent that Mendes should offer Wolves is Ruben Dias – the Benfica defender.

According to The Sun, Manchester United have been keeping their tabs on the 21-year-old, who has already played more than 70 times for Benfica.

But Wolves should enter the race for Dias, who has the potential to become one of Europe’s best defenders.

Dias plays in central defence, which is an area that Wolves could improve on. Willy Boly and Conor Coady are mainstays in the defence but Nuno Espirito Santo prefers a formation with three centre-backs.

If Wolves signed Dias, they would complete a solid back three which could form the bedrock of success in England and Europe.

The sky is the limit for the six cap Portugal international, who is playing with maturity beyond his years.

Nuno’s extensive knowledge of the Portuguese game would make him aware of Dias’ talents and he must ask Mendes to sort this deal out this summer.
