‘Absolutely ridiculous’… Jamie O’Hara slams £165,000-a-week a Tottenham player vs Chelsea last night

TalkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara has had a real go at Tottenham Hotspur star Cristian Romero’s ridiculous challenge that saw him get a red card against Chelsea last night.

Spurs started the game really well and even went a goal up after just six minutes. However, Romero’s moment of madness cost Tottenham the game.

Jamie O’Hara slams Tottenham defender Cristian Romero

Just when Tottenham fans felt Cristian Romero had forgotten his old reckless ways, the £165,000-a-week (Spotrac) Argentine needlessly got himself sent off last night,

The 25-year-old has had an amazing season for Tottenham. He had hardly put a foot wrong until last night, but for whatever reason, he seemed desperate to get a red card.

Romero should’ve got one for kicking out at Levi Colwill, but he got lucky in that instance. However, when he went through Enzo Fernandez inside the box, the VAR decided against being forgiving.

Referee Michael Oliver, after reviewing the footage on the pitchside monitor, gave Romero a deserved red card and then awarded Chelsea a penalty.

Speaking about the incident on TalkSPORT’s Sports Bar after the game, O’Hara said: “Romero’s tackle in the box is absolutely ridiculous.

“I don’t what he was doing, because we were well in the game there, we still got the whole team on the pitch. Romero makes a stupid decision, he goes off, and after that, it’s just criminal.”

Tottenham games Romero will miss due to suspension

Despite the loss yesterday, Tottenham are still second in the Premier League table and in a fantastic position. However, they now enter a tough run of games.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou will have to do without Romero in their next three fixtures after his red card last night.

Tottenham have a tricky away trip to Wolves coming up before Unai Emery‘s high-flying Aston Villa come to North London to take on Postecoglou’s men.

The toughest test of the season comes right after – against Manchester City at the Etihad. There is a possibility that Spurs will have to face Erling Haaland without both Romero and the injured Micky van de Ven. That’s not something to look forward to, is it?
