‘He’s always trying his best’: Mo Salah hails ‘fast’ Liverpool attacking talent

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has spoken about his working relationship with fellow Reds forward Darwin Nunez.

The Liverpool forward, speaking to the Reds media team, explained how both he and Nunez are fast and routinely look out for each other on the pitch.

Since Nunez joined Liverpool last year, and especially since finally coming to the fore this term, he and Salah have forged a close bond on the pitch.

The 24-year-old Uruguay international has combined with his teammate for 11 goals, at least seven more than he has with any other Liverpool player.

Indeed, nine of Nunez’s 10 assists this season have been converted by Salah.

Salah, when asked by the Liverpool media team about his relationship with Nunez, said: “I think because he saw that I’m always looking at him when he’s running and [I’m] just trying to give him assists, try to give him balls, he’s always trying his best to give me the ball back.

“I think because we are both fast and we both have speed, it makes us understand each other’s game.”

Klopp says Liverpool duo Nunez and Salah ‘really football smart’

The media also spoke to Jurgen Klopp about the blossoming working relationship between Nunez and Salah.

“These players, you cannot become a Liverpool player if you are not really football smart. So that means they are really football smart,” Klopp replied, as per BBC Sport.

“What would you do if you are on the ball, you sprint at 900mph down the line and you think ‘who could have the same speed and be in the right position?’ – it’s probably Mo.

“Other players are quick as well, but that’s why Darwin and Mo, that’s why it’s clicking, that’s why they look for each other and stuff like this.”

It’s great to see Nunez not only come to the fore but also develop a great working relationship with Salah. This is exactly what everyone at Liverpool has been waiting for since splashing out on the Uruguayan.

Liverpool have a huge game ahead of them, playing Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in Saturday’s early Premier League kickoff.

While it’ll be a difficult encounter, the Reds have what it takes to get something out of the game, and Salah and Nunez will fancy their chances of getting on the scoresheet.
