‘I’d prefer if he didn’t’… Pundit really doesn’t want 24-year-old Liverpool player to start on Saturday

Liverpool face Manchester City on Saturday in what should be one of the games of the season.

There are always fireworks when these two sides meet, and with both teams in good form as of late, this weekend’s clash should be no different.

Make no mistake about it, Liverpool have what it takes to cause City problems at the Etihad, and speaking on ESPN, Nedum Onuoha has highlighted one player he’s rather worried about.

Indeed, Onuoha says that in an ideal world, Darwin Nunez wouldn’t start for Liverpool this weekend as he reckons the Uruguayan has what it takes to cause City all sorts of problems in the final third.

Onuoha doesn’t want Nunez to start

The pundit shared his verdict on the striker.

“From a City perspective do you want Nunez to start?” Onuoha was asked.

“I don’t actually, as much as he’s proven he’s imperfect, I think his style of play causes teams problems. Speed kills at the end of the day and he will have opportunities. I’d prefer if he didn’t play, but it will be interesting to see what Klopp goes for. The forwards they have, they have tons of goals in them, I think if he goes with Nunez, Salah and Diaz he’ll be stretching the game and have a real threat in behind. I’d prefer players who come short. I wouldn’t like to see him out there, but that means there’s every chance he will be out there,” Onuoha said.

Problems

As Onuoha says, Nunez is exactly the type of player who can cause City problems.

City are the best team in the world, but nobody is immune to being undone by sheer pace and power.

Pedro Neto showed that against the treble winners earlier this season, and if Nunez finds a way to consistently get in behind this City backline, he could wreak havoc.

Of course, Nunez can be inconsistent, but, on his day, he is unplayable.

Jurgen Klopp should absolutely start Nunez in this game.
