‘Plays badly’: £66m player is now really struggling after rejecting Arsenal transfer in January

Dusan Vlahovic is struggling to score as much for Juventus after moving there instead of Arsenal in January.

The Serbian international was linked with the Gunners throughout the winter window but Mikel Arteta did not get his new striker.

The 22-year-old scored 17 goals in 22 league appearances this season for Fiorentina before moving to their Serie A rivals mid-season.

Since making the move to Turin, the Serbian striker has scored six goals in 12 league appearances, which is not a bad return but is also not at his previous level.

Former Juventus midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi has been speaking to SportMediaset about why Vlahovic has not been as free-scoring since rejecting Arsenal.

“The reduced goal average is due to the game of Juventus,” he said.

“The team does not put him in a position to score goals right now.

“He doesn’t create so many chances and plays badly, in this way the strongest striker in the league, doesn’t shoot on goal.”

Arsenal reportedly had an offer accepted for Vlahovic before he made his £66 million move to Juventus and Mikel Arteta still needs a new striker.

He might even get two new frontmen but Arsenal have had to look at alternative targets after Vlahovic’s snub, including Gabriel Jesus.

A goal every other game is not a bad ratio really, and Arsenal would probably love to have a striker scoring at the rate Vlahovic is bagging right now.

The fact it is not at his normal level shows how good the Serbian can be, and he has plenty of years ahead of him to improve and be Juve’s striker for the next ten years.
