Liverpool fans react as Juventus reportedly eye surprise move for Anfield star

Juventus are reportedly considering a surprise move to raid Liverpool and sign Divock Origi in the January window. The Reds are keen to keep him until the summer – but some fans are willing to let the Belgian ace depart.

Origi, 26, is out of contract at the end of the season. Having clocked up 167 appearances and scoring 40 goals, the ex-Lille man is considered a cult hero at Anfield. Indeed, he scored crucial goals in the 2019 Champions League win.

Netting a brace against Barcelona in the famous Anfield comeback, he then got the second in the final to beat Tottenham 2-0. Origi is a top striker, and given the necessary game time, he could become one of the best in Europe.

Gazzetta report that Spain international Alvaro Morata is closing in on a move to Barcelona. The ex-Real Madrid striker is currently on loan at Juventus from Atletico Madrid – but a Barcelona move would leave Juventus light up top.

The report states that Juve have identified Origi as a possible replacement for Morata – and have made enquiries to sign him. But it remains to be seen if Origi wants to go, and if Liverpool are willing to wave goodbye.

What are Liverpool fans saying about Origi and Juventus?

Mo Salah and Sadio Mane are about to play at the African Cup of Nations. While Liverpool could go into the market, Jurgen Klopp may place his faith in his back-up options – Origi, Takumi Minamino, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino.

But that lack of depth in the final third has got to convince the Reds to keep Origi. Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports that Juventus are interested in signing the striker in January.
