Report: Juventus join Tottenham in £33.75m chase, Aubameyang decision

Gazzetta Dello Sport claim that Tottenham have been joined Juventus in the race to sign Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca. It is believed Juventus have chosen not to sign Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Scamacca, 22, has thrown himself onto the radar of European clubs with four goals in his last seven Serie A outings. He has six in 22 appearances for Sassuolo, despite this being his first proper season with Sassuolo.

Joining the club as an 18 year old in January 2017, he has since gone on loan four times – to Cremonese, PEC Zwolle, Ascoli and Genoa. He had only played three times for Sassuolo before the start of the season.

The striker has scored 20% of his sides Serie A goals this season. While six goals in 19 this season is not a huge amount, it is his hold-up play and overall contribution that has excited the clubs that are interested.

Gazzetta claim that Scamacca is being eyed by Spurs, as cover for Harry Kane. But a new report states that Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte’s old side Tottenham are also keen – after choosing not to sign Aubameyang.

Tottenham and Juve eye Scamacca: £33.75m price tag is expensive

Scamacca is an exciting striker. He has plenty of potential and with some fine-tuning under the likes of Antonio Conte and of course, Harry Kane, he could end up being a bargain at £33.75million.

But there is still plenty to learn for the two-time Italy international. Tottenham seriously do need cover for Kane, the next striker being teenager Dane Scarlett. Paratici needs to reduce his price tag, but he would be a good signing.
