Juventus fans react as Leeds reportedly told midfielder will cost a bargain £20m

Leeds United are the latest Premier League to reportedly consider a move to sign Juventus ace Weston McKennie. They have joined Spurs in the chase for his signature – and Juventus fans have responded on Twitter.

McKennie, 23, only joined Juventus in the summer of 2020 from German side Schalke. Initially on loan, that deal was made permanent in the summer – since clocking up 63 appearances in all competitions for the Old Lady.

This season, the USA star has been in and out of the side. He has started just 13 of Juve’s 24 games in all competitions – with injury and suspension preventing him from making the matchday squad on seven occasions.

A move to the Premier League might prove tempting for McKennie, then. The Sun report that Leeds are interested, with a fee of £20million said to be enough to convince Max Allegri into sanctioning his exit in January.

The Express reported in November that both Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici are in agreement when it comes to McKennie. Indeed, they are also interested in signing him in the January market.

What are Juventus fans saying as Leeds reportedly eye McKennie?

Leeds desperately need additions in midfield. The Whites currently have Mateusz Klich and Adam Forshaw fit, while Kalvin Phillips is injured. Stuart Dallas is being used to cover in defence.

The Whites have tried to sign central midfielders recently. Conor Gallagher and Lewis O’Brien were heavily linked in the summer, but Gallagher went on loan to Palace and O’Brien signed a new deal at Huddersfield.

A midfielder is clearly an area the club knows requires strengthening. Juventus fans have responded to the reports that McKennie could be a player they go after in the winter window – and many are keen to keep him.
