Arsenal want Ukraine international and four-time Premier League winner Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is of course familiar with plenty of Pep Guardiola’s squad from his time at the Etihad Stadium.
And the Mail report that Arteta wanted Zinchenko, as well as Gabriel Jesus, who has been extensively linked with a move to Arsenal this summer.
They say that although Zinchenko has played most of his City football at left-back, Arteta wants him to play in midfield, which is something he is capable of.

Their report reads: “Mikel Arteta already wants to sign striker Gabriel Jesus from his old employers and Sportsmail understands the manager holds an interest in Zinchenko, too.
“The 25-year-old is viewed primarily as an asset to bolster Arsenal’s midfield, who could be utilised at left back when required.
“Zinchenko has spent much of his time under Pep Guardiola in defence but has operated in central midfield for Ukraine.

“The City boss refuses to stand in the way of players who want to leave — providing the terms of a deal are acceptable to the club.“
It does make sense for Arteta to go for players he has worked with before and Zinchenko is a great professional with a lot of quality and versatility.
It would be interesting to see what type of midfielder he would be if he played there every week but he could well be a left-footed upgrade on Granit Xhaka.
Zinchenko came off the bench and made a huge difference to City’s title push last weekend, setting up Rodri’s equaliser after a drive down the left hand side.
For Zinchenko, the dilemma is the same as it is with Jesus. Do they want to be squad players at a powerhouse challenging for every trophy going or a key part of what Arteta is trying to do at Arsenal?
