Ruud van Nistelrooy has encouraged Manchester United to sign 21-year-old Everton player

Manchester United are making checks on Everton central defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

That is according to TEAMtalk, which has noted what United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy has told them about Branthwaite.

So, what is being reported about Manchester United and Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, according to TEAMtalk, Manchester United are keen on Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite and have made the 21-year-old “their prime defensive target from within the Premier League”.

A January transfer is unlikely, but the Red Devils plan to make a move for the defender in the summer of 2024.

The report has noted that United have “checked out his potential with Ruud van Nistelrooy”.

Former Real Madrid and Netherlands international striker Van Nistelrooy has “spoken about him in glowing terms”.

Van Nistelrooy played for United from 2001 until 2006. The Dutchman managed Branthwaite at PSV.

Interestingly, Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with Branthwaite. Newcastle United are showing interest in the English youngster as well.

Manchester United could be able to sign Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton

In my opinion, Manchester United could be able to sign Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton in the summer of 2024.

United are arguably the biggest club in England. I believe that a move to Old Trafford could appeal to Branthwaite, especially if the Red Devils finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.

Everton are an established club in the Premier League, but the Toffees are in serious danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season, especially after the 10-point deduction.

Even if Everton retained their Premier League status for next season, I believe that if United made a big offer for Branthwaite in the summer of 2024, then the Toffees would find it hard to turn it down.

Branthwaite has made 10 appearances in the Premier League and has played twice in the Carabao Cup for Everton this season.
