Tottenham Hotspur’s senior team aren’t the only side in European action this season.
The under-19s have also qualified for the UEFA Youth League which takes place alongside the first-team matches.
Tottenham opened the scoring in the first minute thanks to exciting forward Will Lankshear, who joined from Sheffield United in the summer.
Spurs went into the half-time break level, before going 2-1 down and eventually losing the match.
During the match, three senior Tottenham players came down to watch the academy team in action.
Academy graduate Oliver Skipp arrived to watch the youngsters in action, before being joined by Matt Doherty and Eric Dier.

Dier’s connection to Sporting, particularly it’s academy, means it’s no surprise he wanted to watch.
Skipp also took part in three UEFA Youth League campaign in Tottenham’s academy, and has certainly benefitted from his involvement.

Skipp, Dier and Doherty may be trying to relax ahead of their crucial Champions League clash this evening.
Antonio Conte knows that a win guarantees Tottenham’s place in the knockout stages with a game in hand.
However, the group is so close, that a draw or defeat means it will all come down to their final match.
A trip to a resurgent Marseille is not what Conte or his players will want to deal with ahead of the World Cup break.
Tottenham might have Cristian Romero unexpectedly back for this evening’s game, which would be a big boost.
They will however be without Dejan Kulusevski, who is still not close to recovering from a hamstring injury.
Tottenham’s academy men would have appreciated players from the senior side watching today, even if the match ended in defeat.
Those same players will be hoping they receive as much support as possible from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of one of their biggest matches of the season.
