Report: Newcastle want two key positions filled soon with ‘incredible’ £58m player on list Ekitike alternatives

Newcastle United have all but moved on from signing Hugo Ekitike now and are looking to fill two key positions before the season starts, reports iNews.

On the day that Newcastle are set to complete the signing of Sven Botman from Lille, iNews reports that the club are now going to work towards signing both a new right winger and a new striker before the season gets underway.

Among the targets for Eddie Howe in those positions are said to be Chelsea striker, Armando Broja, and Nice star, Amine Gouiri.

Interest in Albanian striker Broja is nothing brand new, of course. It was only a few weeks back that reports suggested Newcastle had actually made a move to try and sign the £58m-rated striker. Broja spent a good season on loan with Southampton last season and was labelled as an ‘incredible‘ player for his efforts with the Saints.

Gouiri, meanwhile, is another name being mentioned for Newcastle. The Nice star scored ten goals last season and is capable of playing both wide and down the middle if needed in attack.

Newcastle have moved to sign Nick Pope this summer already, while Botman’s arrival will end a pursuit that started in January for the Dutchman.

The returning Callum Wilson is a bonus for the Toon, as are the goals scored by Bruno Guimaraes late last season.

However, for the Mags to really take that next step and challenge for the European spots, they do need a few more who are going to make a difference at the top end of the pitch.

In Broja and Gouiri, they’d be getting players who are more than capable of doing that. Broja, in particular, would be an interesting signing given his potential.
