Newcastle United have agreed personal terms with Dean Henderson of Manchester United and are now trying to wrap up the terms of the actual transfer.
Henderson has emerged as Newcastle’s number one goalkeeping target this summer. After failing to dislodge David de Gea in the United sticks, Henderson is thought to be open to moving on. And according to 90Min, he has already agreed terms with Newcastle.
However, the sticking point in the deal remains around whether it will be a permanent or loan move. 90Min reports how Eddie Howe is prepared to use one of his domestic loan slots to accommodate Henderson. On the flipside, if it is a permanent switch, it’s claimed the Toon will try to negotiate a fee less than £20m for the stopper.
That fee is considerably less than the initial £40m being banded about when it comes to England man.
Henderson enjoyed two fantastic loan spells with Sheffield United prior to returning to Manchester United. He was convinced to sign fresh terms with the Old Trafford club, before De Gea found form once again and Henderson suffered the effects of illness at the same time.
Labelled as ‘insane’ by former teammate Sander Berge, Henderson is seen as one of England’s best young goalkeepers.

There is no point in messing about with another loan here. Newcastle need their number one sorting for years to come so should just pay the fee to Manchester United.
Henderson is a class act and on his day, probably one of the best keepers in the league. He just needs a chance to show it again, as he did with Sheffield United two years back.
If Newcastle can get that fee below £20m, then that’s great. But even if it costs them a tad more, then they’ll still end getting value for money in the long-term.
