‘Furious’… David Ornstein says Tottenham will be fuming after what Everton have suggested now

Everton have been docked 10 points by the Premier League, and now, they’re looking to make their case for appeal.

The Toffees are going to put together an argument that they don’t deserve this punishment, and one important factor in this was the transfer of Richarlison last summer.

Reports suggest that Everton’s in-house accounting shows that the Toffees believe they sold Richarlison for £20m below his true market value, but, as you can imagine, Tottenham very much dispute this.

Speaking on Stick To Football, David Ornstein and Jamie Carragher have been discussing Tottenham’s view of how Everton are handling the Richarlison transfer, and Ornstein says that the north London club will be furious with this suggestion that they have ripped Everton off.

Tottenham won’t be happy.

Ornstein and Carragher spoke about this situation with Richarlison.

“They argue that they sold Richarlison for below his value,” Ornstein said.

“I’m not sure Tottenham fans will be saying that,” Carragher added.

“Tottenham will be furious at the idea that they’ve shortchanged Everton, because their role is to negotiate the best deal for them. The Everton situation serves as a warning for what may come for other clubs too,” Ornstein said.

Bizarre

We can’t help but think that this situation is very bizarre.

Everton think that Tottenham should’ve paid £20m more for Richarlison, but his performances for Tottenham haven’t suggested that, have they?

He scored one league goal in his first season for the north London club. That’s not an £80m player. In fact, that’s not even a £60m player.

If anything, Everton have gotten a great deal for a player who hasn’t been that good in this league for a long time, and the fact that they’re making this case is a bit bizarre.

As Ornstein says, Tottenham have every right to be annoyed.
