‘He’s a centre-forward’: Chris Sutton says Tottenham have a £39m defender who almost acts like a striker

Say what you will about Ange Postecoglou’s style of play at Tottenham, it’s exciting to watch.

Yes, the Australian could probably benefit from being a tad more pragmatic at times, but, we can’t help but enjoy watching his side try to score every single time they get the ball.

Tottenham are unwavering in their all-out-attack approach, and one player who truly sums that up is Pedro Porro.

The Spaniard loves to bomb forward, and speaking on the Fantasy 606 Podcast, Chris Sutton has urged FPL players to get Porro in their teams, stating that the £39m man is a centre-forward masquerading as a full-back.

Porro acts like a striker

Sutton shared his verdict on Porro and his advice for any Fantasy Football players.

“Keep your Tottenham players in. If you watched the game against Villa it could’ve been four or five, they’re not taking their chances. They will concede goals, but Pedro Porro, he’s a centre-forward!” Sutton said.

Ange-ball

This is what Postecoglou’s style is all about.

Attack, attack and then attack some more.

Yes, Porro is a full-back on the teamsheet, but make no mistake about it, he spends more time thinking about how to create goals than he does thinking about how to stop them, and that is sometimes to his detriment.

Porro is a joy to watch when he’s at his best, and while he’s yet to score in the league for Spurs this season, it may just be a matter of time before he starts chipping in with a few goals.

The Spaniard is one of the most attack-minded full-backs we can remember watching, and it’s exciting to watch any team that has this approach to getting the ball forward and creating chance after chance.

Porro may be a defender by trade, but he’s a dangerous attacking threat too.
