£39m Tottenham defender missed training this week amid injury crisis

Tottenham have a defensive crisis on their hands right now.

Cristian Romero is out with suspension, as is Destiny Udogie, Micky Van de Ven is injured, while Ben Davies is also a doubt.

Sadly, things don’t seem to be getting any better for Tottenham, and speaking on Off The Ball, Martin Lipton has delivered yet another worrying update for Spurs.

Indeed, according to Lipton, Pedro Porro missed training for Tottenham a few days ago, and that is extremely concerning.

Porro missed training

Lipton shared what he knows about the £39m defender.

“They have some options in midfield, but it’s at the back where there are no options. I mean Porro missed training the other day, so if he’s out then god knows what they do. I suspect it will be Porro-Emerson-Dier and Ben Davies if he’s fit, but if he isn’t then Emerson will have to go to left-back and Phillips will probably come in,” Lipton said.

Bare bones

Tottenham will seriously be down to bare bones if Porro is out of action this weekend.

If Porro is out, Tottenham will not have a single player in their first-choice back four available for selection, and they will have to field a very makeshift defence.

Even Spurs’ backup options are slim at the moment, Ryan Sessegnon, Ivan Perisic and Ben Davies are all also either out of action or doubts for this weekend, and we have no idea what this Tottenham defence will look like if Porro is also out.

One thing is for sure, Wolves will be licking their lips ahead of this weekend as they will have a real chance to get something against Spurs as they may struggle to put together a competent backline in this game.
