‘Don’t think he’s a good defender’: Pundit says 24-year-old Tottenham player is poor at the back

Tottenham face Chelsea on Monday in what could be a very tightly-contested game in the Premier League.

Spurs are in much better form than Chelsea at the moment, but, at the same time, Chelsea have shown in recent weeks against Arsenal that they can pull performances from out of nowhere.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Clinton Morrison has been previewing this game, and, as a Spurs fan, he says he’s worried about the threats Chelsea pose down their left flank.

Morrison says that while he’s a fan of Pedro Porro, he doesn’t think that he’s a good defender, although he is fantastic in the attack.

Porro not a good defender

Morrison shared his verdict on the Spaniard.

“It’s a difficult one but if Sterling plays on the left I’ll be more worried about Sterling or Mudryk. One of those two because I like Porro, but I don’t think he’s a good defender, but he’s good going forwards, but we have Romero, Van de Ven and Udogie,” Morrison said.

Worrying

Morrison is right, Porro isn’t the best defender in the world, but his attacking output is fantastic.

Against a team like Chelsea, Porro’s performance could go one of two ways.

Mudryk and Sterling may be cause Porro problems, but, at the same time, Porro has what it takes to cause all sorts of issues for Marc Cucurella in an attacking sense.

If Chelsea are to get the better of Spurs, it may be down that flank, and, once again, Porro’s defensive frailties are a concern heading into this game.

Let’s hope that the Spaniard can put in an assured performance against Chelsea and prove his doubters wrong, as this view that he can’t defender is becoming more and more present in the wider footballing world.
