West Ham may now move to sign £30m Chelsea player in January transfer window

West Ham United are now considering a move for Chelsea striker Armando Broja in January after the injury sustained by Michail Antonio.

That’s according to a report by TEAMtalk who shared that West Ham have still been keeping tabs on Broja.

West Ham did have a bid of £30m rejected for Broja in the summer of 2022 according to reports, and it would now take a similar fee to sanction a deal in January.

Chelsea are believed to be willing to listen to permanent offers according to this report, given their own desire to reshape their squad.

On Armando Broja’s part, the striker is said to be very keen to prove himself in the Premier League amid some links abroad as well.

Therefore, it does seem as if a deal may suit all parties, especially West Ham who are now contending with some problematic injuries.

Although still being assessed, there were fears that Michail Antonio’s knee injury could keep him out for around nine months.

But fresh reports are now suggesting that Antonio may have escaped a lengthy issue.

Perhaps even more frustratingly, Jarrod Bowen also sustained a knock whilst away with England this week.

West Ham’s attacking line has looked lacking all season, and these fresh injuries do really emphasise the situation.

West Ham are now eyeing a move for Armando Broja in January

Although he would have to prove his fitness, there’s every reason to believe that Broja can be a success at West Ham.

David Moyes’ side are set up for a striker that can effectively run the channels whilst also acting as a target man on occasion.

And although Antonio fits that bill well, he doesn’t have the goal-scoring instincts to match.

Broja proved his scoring record whilst on loan at Southampton in the Premier League, but is yet to have a consistent chance at Chelsea.

And with Nicolas Jackson currently ahead in the pecking order, and further reinforcements to come, that chance may never come.

Therefore a January arrival at West Ham could be an excellent opportunity for Broja to prove his worth in the Premier League.

A striker who looked so exciting, but has been on the periphery of things for too long.
