£30m Arsenal player now expected to miss tonight’s clash vs Sevilla through injury

Martin Odegaard is now expected to miss Arsenal’s Champions League clash against Sevilla tonight through injury.

That’s according to The Standard, with the outlet claiming the Arsenal skipper has been absent from training this week as he’s struggling with a hip injury.

Arsenal were without Martin Odegaard over the weekend as they fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Newcastle United.

The 24-year-old featured for 10 minutes in the 3-1 defeat at West Ham just a few days before but has seemingly picked up a fresh injury problem.

The Gunners missed the Norwegian’s creativity at St James’ Park as they struggled to break down a resilient Newcastle side.

And it seems that Arteta will be without his skipper once again tonight.

Odegaard to miss Arsenal vs Sevilla

The Standard reports that Odegaard is expected to miss tonight’s clash at the Emirates Stadium following his absence from training on Tuesday.

Odegaard has been struggling with a hip issue after being left out of the squad on Saturday.

The Arsenal skipper hasn’t found his best form this season but he remains a huge miss for Arteta’s men.

It was evident the Gunners missed him on Saturday in Tyneside and they will be hopeful his injury doesn’t turn out to be a serious one.

Odegaard has been called up to Norway’s squad for the upcoming international break though, which could indicate he’s not far off a return.

Arsenal will be hoping to take one step closer to qualifying for the Champions League knockout stages with a win against Sevilla tonight.

They will then turn their attention to Burnley on the weekend and it remains unclear whether Odegaard is in contention to feature.

It may be for the best if the £30 million midfielder rests up this week ahead of a possible return after the international break.
