‘He’s a good passer’… Kai Havertz lauds 24-year-old Arsenal player’s distribution

Arsenal midfielder Kai Havertz has praised Gunners teammate Declan Rice for his passing skills and distribution.

The Arsenal summer signing was speaking to the Gunners media team on their latest eFootball Stat Battle video on YouTube.

Havertz teamed up with Gabriel Martinelli to take on Takehiro Tomiyasu and Sharky in the Top Trumps-style game, which involved the Arsenal club pack.

The first round was won by Havertz and Martinelli, whose Martinelli card beat Tomiyasu in dribbling.

Havertz then used his own card – plus the Mikel Arteta ‘booster’ – to get the better of Tomiyasu and Sharky’s pick of Rice in the passing round.

“It’s hard, it’s tough. Declan is a good passer for sure,” said the Germany international.

Indeed, both cards were tied on 78 for passing, but the Havertz card benefited from a +5 thanks to the Arteta booster.

Havertz and Martinelli ended up winning the game 4-1, with Tomiyasu and Sharky winning the finishing round thanks to Martin Odegaard plus Arteta booster.

Declan Rice second on Arsenal list for Premier League passes this season

Rice is certainly a great passer of the ball, one of the many reasons why Arsenal decided to pay £105million for his services.

The 24-year-old is second on the Arsenal list for Premier League passes this season. He’s on 721, behind William Saliba with 1,002.

And as per Sofascore, Rice’s passing accuracy per game is 92 percent, and makes an average of 0.8 key passes per game.

It’s great to hear Havertz recognise Rice’s passing abilities. The Germany international is also a great passer of the ball. And once he finds his feet at Arsenal, he’ll be wonderful to watch.
