‘I also like to watch’: Joel Piroe says he loves analysing £30m Arsenal player

Leeds United striker Joel Piroe is making a splash at Elland Road but has admitted to keeping an eye on a certain Arsenal player.

Piroe is flying at Leeds since making his move from Swansea. He’s formed a superb partnership with Georgino Rutter and the Whites look a good bet for promotion.

However, while Piroe plays as a forward, he also likes to drop deep into the number ten position. And speaking to Sky Sports, he’s admitted he loves watching Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard.

Joel Piroe says he studies Martin Odegaard at Arsenal

Speaking at length to Sky about a number of current topics, Piroe got onto his position. And while he spoke about other strikers he likes, he also admitted to keeping an eye on Odegaard.

“I also like to watch guys who play in a deeper role like Martin Odegaard at Arsenal. It is good to analyse and see what they do in their positions as more of a second striker, to see when you want to be a midfielder, and when to play like a striker at the right moments,” Piroe said.

Odegaard has been a key player for Arsenal ever since he signed for them in a £30m deal from Real Madrid.

Now club captain, he has enjoyed a fine rise to being one of the world’s best midfielders.

Odegaard one of the best around

When Arsenal signed Martin Odegaard, some people doubted his quality and just how good he could be, given he’d not quite done it at Madrid.

However, those people have been left with egg on their face a bit now.

Odegaard is sensational and at times looks like he’s playing at a level above some of the other players in that position in Europe.

For Piroe, it won’t do him any harm to keep an eye on Odegaard. And if he can add some of the Norwegian’s traits to his own game, then that will only benefit Leeds.
