Arsenal predicted XI vs Brentford… Mikel Arteta makes three changes, £50m star wins back his spot

After a strong finish before the international break, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side should be in good spirits when they travel to Brentford.

Arsenal dominated the fixture last season, winning 3-0 and also handing a debut to young Ethan Nwaneri.

However, they can expect a much tougher test against Brentford on this occasion, a side still producing excellent performances whilst missing Ivan Toney.

And with several players returning to fitness, we think Mikel Arteta will make three changes to his Arsenal team against Brentford.

David Raya is now Arsenal’s new number one – that’s not up for debate.

However, given Raya is on loan from Brentford, Aaron Ramsdale is likely to return in goal.

Otherwise, £50m Ben White’s return will be very welcome, the defender is expected to return after missing the win over Burnley with an issue.

Arteta does face an ongoing dilemma at left back – does he favour the playmaking attributes of Oleksandr Zinchenko, or the robust defending of Takehiro Tomiyasu.

On this occasion, we think he’ll opt for the former.

There’s also a return in midfield.

Martin Odegaard was seen back in training today, and was pictured alongside 17-year-old academy talent Ayden Heaven.

The skipper should return to the XI in place of Kai Havertz – who has been playing in a surprising role for Germany over the break.

Otherwise, Jorginho is likely to keep his spot in the pivot, even if some now think he’s losing his legs.

The final decision for Arteta in his Arsenal XI to face Brentford is at centre-forward.

Gabriel Jesus is now back available having completed 90 minutes for Brazil against Argentina.

However, it does seem as if Leandro Trossard’s form in a false nine role will allow the Brazilian a chance to rest.

Jesus seems most likely to be used as an impact sub in what could prove to be a tricky fixture.

Arsenal do now face six games in the space of 18 days, and they will have to rely on their extended squad.

So if one or two are disappointed to miss out on a start at Brentford, they could soon be back in the XI.
