‘Just too much power’… Jamie Carragher seriously unimpressed with £21.6m Tottenham Hotspur player

Jamie Carragher has given his verdict on Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil after watching him in action against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

The former Liverpool defender and Sky Sports pundit was not impressed.

So, what has Jamie Carragher said about Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil? Let’s take a look.

Jamie Carragher on Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil vs Manchester City

Well, Tottenham Hotspur played out a 3-3 draw with Manchester City away from home at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday.

It was a very entertaining game that also had a controversial refereeing call towards the end.

City were the favourites to win the match, but I have to say that an injury-plagued Spurs did well to pick up a point against the defending Premier League champions.

Bryan Gil started the match for Tottenham. The £21.6 million (Sky Sports) winger was deployed on the left of a three-man attacking midfielder.

Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou decided to take him off at half time. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg replaced the Spain international in the team.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher was following the match for Sky Sports, and he was not impressed with Gil.

Carragher told Sky Sports: “Man City’s first goal came about because of the power of Man City.

“That’s why Spurs made that change of Hojbjerg coming on and Gil comes off. He looked like a boy playing in a man’s game.

“Even though he did well for the first goal, there was just too much power.”

Bryan Gil will learn from the Manchester City experience

I do not think that Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil was very good against Manchester City. The 22-year-old simply failed to make an impact, and I am not surprised at all he was taken off at half time.

While the Spain international was involved in the early goal, he struggled to make an impression. Kyle Walker did not have too much of a problem against him.

Gil is only 22, and I believe that the young winger will learn from his experience against City and will grow as a result.
