Ian Wright shares if he thinks Mikel Arteta will be under pressure at Arsenal if they don’t win the league

Ian Wright believes Mikel Arteta won’t be sacked if Arsenal miss out on the Premier LEague title, though questions will be raised.

Speaking on Stick To Football, the Gunners legend disagreed with the idea that Arteta would be sacked by Arsenal if the north London side were to miss out on top honours in again this season.

However, Wright did admit that Arteta will be rightly judged for some decisions the Basque manager has made if Manchester City or Liverpool were to pip Arsenal to the title.

Wright said on if Arteta will leave Arsenal if they miss out on Premier League glory: “I don’t think so. It would depend on the manner. He’s making decisions already, he’s brought the goalkeeper in, people are questioning some of his signings.

“I think he’s somebody who is very tunnel vision in what he wants to do. He is someone who when he sees something, he is going to go for what he’s trying to do. And I think he’ll be judged at the end of the season if he can do it.

“But I feel to try and chase down Manchester City with what they are doing, the margins what you are trying to gain are very tough and it’s going to be tough for anybody to try and do it, not just Mikel.”

Arsenal should back Arteta barring complete disaster

It would be an understatement to say that Arteta has been a revelation for Arsenal, with the former club captain taking the Gunners from their lowest possible point to Premier League contenders.

Yet should the north London side fall short again this season, Arsenal and fans will want Arteta to stay on, with the 41-year-old manager having a clear vision of how he wants the club to operate.

Indeed, there will be some pundits who might call upon Arteta to be sacked if Arsenal don’t win the Premier League this season.

Yet given what the Gunners and the rest of the league are up against in Manchester City, sacking Arteta over losing to Pep Guardiola’s side would be stupid, to say the least.
