Ian Wright says there’s something Daniel Levy needs to do at Tottenham more than ever before

Ian Wright has said Daniel Levy needs to financially back Ange Postecoglou in the January transfer market if Tottenham are to challenge for the title.

Speaking on The Kelly and Wrighty Show, the pundit made the case that the Tottenham owners has to put money on the table this winter if Spurs are to build from their historic start.

The north London side have been impressive this season under Postecoglou, and for Wright, Levy needs to actually back the Tottenham manager this January, unlike what has happened in previous years.

Wright said: “I think Levy this January more than any other time, and I know it’s very difficult to get really top-end players, he really does have to back Ange with some players.

“What he doesn’t want to get into is what he did with Poch, after the Champions League and them finishing second, he wanted to get some out and bring some in and he ended up moving on.

“Tottenham regressed, with Conte and then Mourinho. Ange is bringing them back, he needs to be backed.”

With the likes of Marc Guehi and Albert Gudmundsson all being linked with Tottenham in recent days, it’s clear that the north London side are going to spend big in January.

And Levy now needs to put his money where his mouth is when it comes to backing Postecoglou, with Tottenham in an incredible position to do something special this season.

However, all of that goodwill and excitement can fade away if finances aren’t put into the squad, with Levy fully aware that Tottenham need more quality if they’re to compete with Manchester City and Arsenal.

Moreover, with rivals clubs also expected to invest, Tottenham spending some serious cash in the market will send a message to the Premier League that they’re not to be taken lightly this season.
