What Giovani Lo Celso was spotted doing after Matty Cash’s awful tackle for Aston Villa vs Tottenham yesterday

Matty Cash’s tackle on Rodrigo Bentancur was a notable low point in Aston Villa’s 2-1 win against Tottenham this weekend.

The Polish international went in hard on the Spurs midfielder just 30 minutes that led to Bentancur being forced off having only just returned from a lengthy injury.

And as reported by Football London, Giovani Lo Celso was the first Tottenham player to confront Cash for his awful challenge on Bentancur, which has now only worsened Spurs’ injury problems.

The Argentine international was impressive on the day as the midfielder scored the opening goal of the match in the first-half, with Lo Celso then going on to show his spirit for Tottenham by squaring up to Cash.

With Emerson Royal and Bryan Gill also joining in on the Cash pile on, Tottenham fans would have love the fight their players showed to the cruel incident.

Although Spurs would go on to throw away their lead, support for Bentancur got the crowd firing, with attention now turned to how long will the midfielder be out for.

Given the standard of officiating in the Premier League, it wasn’t the biggest surprise in the world that Cash avoided being handed a red card at Tottenham.

The Villa defender could face further punishment if the FA deem Cash’s tackle on Bentancur harsh enough for a suspension, with the midfielder potentially out again on the sidelines.

Indeed, the Uruguay international will be missed if Bentancur is indeed injured, and Tottenham could have done more yesterday to call out what Cash did on the midfielder.

It was an awful challenge that could have done some serious damage, yet it is likely that little will be done even if Bentancur is forced out once again through injury.
