Tottenham lost their second game in a week this weekend at Wolves and Stan Collymore couldn’t resist a dig.
Collymore is one of the more outspoken former footballers over on social media, with the former Liverpool man often voicing his opinion on a range of football and non-footballing matters.
For Tottenham, the weekend was a nightmare as a late show from Wolves ensured they won a big three points and compounded Spurs to a second defeat in the space of six days.
Of course, the football under Ange Postecoglou has been excellent and Tottenham have been billed already as title contenders.
However, taking to his X account, Stan Collymore has had a mini dig at Tottenham, insisting that all they’ve had is a good start, ‘nothing more, nothing less’.
Tottenham lacking but unlucky at the same time
Every team in the Premier League has injury problems it seems at the moment but this from Tottenham over the last week is an absolute nightmare.
The suspensions to Udogie and Romero can be helped, in fairness. It’s just poor discipline and something Postecoglou can try and iron out.
However, the injuries to Maddison and Van de Ven cannot be helped and that’s where you have to feel sorry for Spurs really.
Of course, Collymore does have a point with his comment here. It is just a good start to the season and that’s why there are 38 games, to iron out the best teams from the rest.
But Spurs can count themselves as being a bit unfortunate and with a fully fit squad they more than likely take a result against Wolves yesterday.
They were lacking defensively with no Van de Ven, and lacking in the final third with no Maddision.
Tottenham need to address things a bit in January and it won’t be a surprise to see one or two new signings arrive.
