‘He’s going to go far’…Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez was blown away with ‘fantastic’ Celtic player

There are not many positives Celtic fans can take from Tuesday night’s 6-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

In fact, I’ll go further than that. There were only two. The performance of Cameron Carter-Vickers was certainly one positive I took from the game.

The US defender was a stalwart in the Hoops backline and had it not been for him, Celtic could have lost by way more than six.

And the second positive? You all may remember how TBR Celtic told you about what Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez did in the Celtic dressing room on Tuesday.

The Uruguayan made a personal request to Luis Palma to ask for his jersey for one of his Honduran employees, Denia Cerrato.

Cerrato is a huge Luis Palma fan and she told how Gimenez took the time to make the request for her. Now Cerrato has spoken to the Honduran media and shared what Gimenez has said about Palma after both players spoke with each other after the match on Tuesday night.

Cerrato said [Deportes TVC], “On Wednesday after the game he told me that he had been impressed by Luis Palma’s humility, that you can tell that he is a boy who comes from the bottom and that he is fighting to get ahead, as he did some time ago.

“That he has a great future, that he expects him to continue working hard and stay humble because that is going to take him far, those were the words of him (José María Giménez). Luis Palma was talking to him a lot.

“He’s talented, he told me: ‘The kid has talent and he’s going to go far,’ he told me.”

I’ve said repeatedly on TBR Celtic how I think Palma is going to have a ‘fantastic‘ future at the club. The Honduran has been excellent since his £3.5m move from Aris.

He’s certainly found his goalscoring touch after finding the back of the net on four occasions this season already for Celtic.

And now he’s starting to impress in the Champions League, maybe Aris manager, German Burgos’ assertion that Palma could play for Real Madrid is not as ridiculous as some said it was.
