Manchester City now want ‘fabulous’ midfielder Arsenal sold for just £4.5m

Serge Gnabry may have failed to make a huge impact at Arsenal, but the former Gunners midfielder is good enough for Manchester City to consider him.

That is according to Football Transfers, which has noted what Manchester City think of Gnabry.

So, what has been reported about former Arsenal midfielder Serge Gnabry and Manchester City? Let’s take a look.

Manchester City linked with former Arsenal midfielder Serge Gnabry

According to Football Transfers, Manchester City are interested in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Serge Gnabry, who described as “a fabulous player” who “makes good decisions” by former Bayern star Owen Hargreaves in The Daily Mail in August 2020.

The report has claimed that City, who won the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup last season, are ready to drop their interest in West Ham United and Brazil international attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta.

Football Transfers has claimed that “Gnabry is a player of significant interest” to City as an alternative to Paqueta.

Gnabry has been on the books of Bayern since 2017 and is under contract at the German club until the summer of 2026.

Serge Gnabry a success story after Arsenal exit

In my view, the departure of Serge Gnabry from Arsenal has been his making. The Germany international attacking midfielder has got better.

Arsenal told Gnabry to Werder Bremen in the summer of 2016 for just £4.5 million (The Daily Mail). The 28-year-old failed to establish himself in the Gunners’ starting lineup and could not even get into the team at West Bromwich Albion during his loan spell at The Hawthorns.

The attacker succeeded at Werder and then moved to Bayern in 2017. In recent years, Gnabry has been superb for the Bavarian giants and is one of the best players in the world.

Gnabry has won the Bundesliga title five times and the UEFA Champions League once with Bayern so far in his career.
