‘Very difficult’, Andy Walker thinks £2m Celtic player needs to start scoring off the bench

Andy Walker believes that Celtic winger, Hyunjun Yang, must do more when he comes off the bench if he is ever to make that elusive first-team spot his own.

The £2m winger is not impressing often enough although it has to be said in his last two games against St Mirren and Ross County, he has done a lot better.

And with places for the upcoming Atletico Madrid match still up for grabs, if Yang does get the nod he only needs to do one thing to become a starter under Rodgers says the former Celtic striker.

Walker said [The Go Radio Football Show], “I like Yang, I think he’s got quick feet. I think he’s got clever feet. He is sharp.

“And he’s like everyone else, he needs an opportunity and when he does you need to show that you can create chances.

“Maybe get the odd goal or two yourself. And it’s very difficult when you’re only getting 20 minutes, half an hour, but that’s what he needs to do.”

There is more that Hyunjun Yang needs to do at Celtic

Whilst I agree with the crux of Walker’s point, there is more that Yang must do at Celtic. Labelled as a future ‘superstar‘, the South Korean has only created one assist in almost 400 minutes of football.

For a regular winger, that is not a good enough return. But for a Celtic one, with the amount of attacking and possession they have, that is unacceptable.

Now to be fair to Yang, he is still young and learning to adapt to life in Scotland. The Celtic winger has also admitted that he feels more under pressure now than at any other time in his career.

In his last two outings Yang has looked like a proper winger with direct running, trickery and looking to beat his man. It does look like he is coming onto a game and, if selected on Tuesday night, the Celtic fans will be hoping he will produce as they hope to be in Europe after Christmas.
