‘That’s the tweet’… Centre-back on Tottenham books hailed by loan club after ‘8/10’ display

Tottenham Hotspur loanee Joe Rodon continues to impress on loan at Leeds United.

On Saturday, the £15million Spurs man helped the Whites go 10 games unbeaten in the Championship with a 3-2 win over Middlesbrough.

Rodon‘s efforts also helped Leeds record their seventh successive victory at Elland Road and keep up the pressure on the league’s runaway top two.

The Tottenham defender sealed a season-long switch to Leeds in the summer amid few opportunities at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

As per the Evening Standard, the deal involving Rodon is a straight loan with no option or obligation to buy. This could well be food for thought for Ange Postecoglou.

The Spurs man is now a regular in Daniel Farke’s side, with 16 league appearances to his name. He has missed out on just two league outings this term.

On Saturday, Rodon delivered a performance that the Yorkshire Evening Post deemed worthy of an 8 out of 10 rating.

“Some big, important challenges,” they wrote. “Repeatedly tried to calm things down and keep Leeds composed. Made one particularly vital defensive block in his own area at 3-2 up.”

Rodon also delivered an 8 out of 10 display – according to the YEP – on Wednesday when Leeds ran out 3-1 winners over Swansea.

And after Leeds overcame Boro, the Whites’ X account sung the Spurs man’s praises with a picture of the player and the caption “Joe Rodon… that’s the tweet!”

The fact that Rodon is on a straight loan deal at Leeds means Tottenham will have the final say over whether they sell him or not.

Had there been an option to buy, then he’d be as good as gone as far as Spurs are concerned. Leeds will no doubt want to buy him and Rodon would likely want to stay.

At the same time, it has been reported that Tottenham do not have an option to recall Rodon in January. So in terms of Spurs’ injury crisis, bringing the 26-year-old back likely won’t happen.

However, could Postecoglou look to convince Rodon to stay when he returns to Spurs next summer?

This is just speculation obviously, but his displays will no doubt have given the Tottenham boss food for thought.
