‘Excellent’: Chris Sutton was delighted with 20-year-old Celtic player’s ‘clever’ passing vs St Mirren

Celtic’s win over St Mirren was one of those that the fans will look back on and see it as an important one in terms of the league title.

When teams are dogged and determined and sit behind the ball like St Mirren does, it takes something special to break them down.

A bit of finesse, composure and brilliance to create an opening to get the winner. And that is exactly what Celtic midfielder, Odin Thiago Holm did last night.

Brought on as a second-half substitute, Holm delivered the perfect pass to put Hyeongyu Oh through on goal for the Korean to smash home the winner.

And the pass really impressed Chris Sutton. The former Celtic hero was gushing on social media last night at full-time and singled out Holm’s passing for a special mention.

Sutton said [X], “Huge goal from the bench tonight for Celtic and Oh.

“Clever pass from Holm, excellent feet from Oh to finish.”

Odin Thiago Holm makes another impact at Celtic

This is not the first time the ‘brilliant’ Holm has impressed at Celtic. Earlier in the season he came on at Pittodrie and bossed the midfield in the 3-1 win over Aberdeen.

Against Rangers at Ibrox Holm was excellent once more as Celtic won the game 1-0 amid a huge injury crisis.

Last night was Holm’s seventh appearance of the season for Celtic. The 20-year-old midfielder has already shown that he has bags of potential and could very well become a superb player for Celtic.

Holm could very well have placed himself in the frame for a start against Ross County on Saturday. TBR Celtic did pinpoint the youngster as one of three players who could replace the injured Reo Hatate.

His performance last night will have done his chances no harm at all. Holm has brought dynamism and a bit of swagger to the Celtic midfield as for someone so young, he certainly doesn’t lack confidence.

It will be interesting to see how Rodgers plays him from now on as, despite his red card against Feyenoord in the Champions League, I think he could play a huge part in Celtic’s season from now on.
