‘I really admire’: Diego Simeone shares what he loves about watching Celtic

Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone, has shared what he loves about watching Celtic as he prepares his side for a ‘tough’ game at Parkhead.

The legendary Argentine was full of compliments for Brendan Rodgers‘ side and says he loves the style of football the Irishman has his team playing.

Simeone said [The Sun], “Celtic is a tough rival, with some really strong players.

“I really admire the way they play football and it is going to be a tough game.

“We are going to approach the game with a lot of enthusiasm and vigour.

“In their games against Lazio and Feyenoord, especially in the first 60-70 minutes, Celtic played at a really high tempo.

“They are good in transition and have a strong system that they stuck to.

“They will press you in your own half and playing here, it is a really historic stadium.”

TBR Celtic wrote yesterday that the Hoops will be up against a wily opponent in Simeone due to his incredible winning track record.

The 55-year-old has taken Atletico to two Champions League finals and has won four European trophies during his time at the club. And I haven’t even mentioned the domestic honours he has won.

Celtic, and Rodgers, will need to be at their brilliant best if they are to take all three points from the Spaniards tonight.

But as Simeone points out, Celtic do have their own style of football that will give the La Liga challengers food for thought.

If Rodgers can somehow get the team playing as they did against Lazio and then capitalise on any chances created, then the Hoops could claim another famous La Liga scalp in Paradise.

But it will take a monumental effort from every player in the team and no individual errors. If the Celtic players can do that then the European dream may very well be kept alive for another week.
