Leeds could set up permanent deal for ‘phenomenal’ player in January

Joe Rodon is having a fantastic time of it at Leeds.

The Welsh defender seems to have rediscovered his confidence at Elland Road, and he’s arguably playing the best football of his career right now.

Unfortunately for Leeds, Rodon is only on a loan deal at the moment, and he’s set to head back to Tottenham in the summer.

However, the good news is that Leeds do want to keep Rodon, and according to Alasdair Gold, speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, the Whites could fast-track a permanent move for the defender and try to get something set up in January.

Leeds could set up Rodon deal in January

Gold shared his verdict on the defender and his loan spell.

“I think for Joe Rodon, if I’m Joe Rodon I wouldn’t even want to go back to Spurs anyway. He’s been smashing it at Leeds and I’ve no doubt they want to keep him. I wouldn’t be shocked in January if they tried to set up a deal to sign him permanently whether that’s at the end of the season or something, he’s just been phenomenal for them,” Gold said.

Get it done

If Leeds can get a deal done for Rodon in January, they absolutely should.

Make no mistake about it, this is a player whose stock is only going up at the moment, and if Leeds do ultimately end up being promoted at the end of the season, Tottenham would have every right to put a premium on his price.

Leeds can tie the player down early by getting this deal done in January, and they could also get a cut-price deal potentially.

Don’t be shocked if Leeds get this one over the line as soon as they can.
