‘Terrific’… Ben Davies says 25-year-old who Tottenham loaned out this summer is so good on the ball

Ben Davies has singled out Tottenham Hotspur loanee Joe Rodon for praise and lauded the defender’s ability on the ball.

Davies has been speaking to Wales Online and feels Rodon has benefitted massively from heading out on loan over the summer.

Rodon has been ever-present for Leeds United so far this season after making the switch to Elland Road in August.

The 25-year-old struggled for game time during his time at Tottenham after joining from Swansea back in 2020.

But he’s flourished under Daniel Farke so far and Davies feels his Wales teammate has found the perfect place to further his development.

Davies lauds ‘terrific’ Rodon

Speaking to Wales Online, Davies lauded Rodon as a ‘terrific’ player and feels the defender is brilliant on the ball.

“It is difficult,” he said. “Sometimes people forget how challenging it is going somewhere and then you have to move every nine months to a new place.

“But I think he really seems to have found himself a home at Leeds.

“Joe is a terrific player. Every time I play with him with Wales he is very solid, good on the ball and I think we have a good understanding. To see him have success at Leeds, it really does make me happy.

“Joe is one of my best mates in football, so we speak all the time.

“He is the type of player that, when he is at somewhere he is feeling valued and he is getting a good run of games, he is a really, really good defender and I think he is showing that right now.”

Rodon spent the second half of last season on loan at Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennais but struggled for minutes in France.

The 26-year-old had little joy in terms of minutes in pre-season over the summer too. It was apparent he didn’t feature in Ange Postecoglou’s plans.

But a move to Elland Road has kickstarted the defender’s career and it will be intriguing to see where his long-term future lies.
