Report: International Leeds sold in 2019 before he made debut could now return to UK in January

Yosuke Ideguchi may get the chance to return to the United Kingdom more than two years after leaving Leeds United, with The Scottish Sun reporting that Celtic want the midfielder.

Ideguchi did not have a good time following his switch in 2018. He cost the Whites around £500,000. And it appeared to be an exciting addition, with Leeds handing the Japan international a four-and-a-half year deal at Elland Road.

However, within two years, the now 25-year-old had left. He spent the majority of his time on Leeds’ books out on loan. And he left in August 2019 having not made a single competitive appearance for the Whites.

Of course, Marcelo Bielsa has not been made to rue that decision. Leeds went on to seal promotion the season Ideguchi left to join Gamba Osaka.

But perhaps Whites fans are about to get a better idea of why the club felt compelled to sign him in the first place almost four years ago.

The Scottish Sun reports that Ange Postecoglou wants Ideguchi at Parkhead. The Celtic boss will have a very good idea of what he is capable of, having worked in Japan before his Hoops switch.

Leeds fans will be incredibly intrigued to see how Ideguchi gets on should he join Celtic

It will be a lot easier for Leeds fans to track Ideguchi’s progress should he join Celtic. So there may well be plenty of supporters who keep one eye on the Bhoys’ fortunes should the midfielder join them next month.

Obviously, they will not be tracking him in the hope that Leeds sign him for a second time.

But the Whites hierarchy clearly saw something in Ideguchi. Perhaps that player will really emerge should he join Celtic.
