Leeds United must remove these 11 players with urgency this summer

Leeds United fans are undoubtedly hoping that the club’s transfer business is not yet over. But not only do they want to see players coming in, but there are plenty the club must move on this summer.

It seems Hadi Sacko is on his way out of the club. The Mali international is wanted by Denizlispor and, as reported by Hurriyet, a deal should be concluded this week.

But there is a long list of Leeds United first-team outcasts that the club must cut loose.

In fact, at present, the number is probably 11.

Sacko is one, as is former Dutch international Vurnon Anita. The former Newcastle man has been linked with a move to Greece and no fans at Elland Road will miss him.

Pawel Cibicki’s loan move at Elfsborg has now, officially, finished. Leeds need to secure another exit for him.

Samu Saiz fell foul of Marcelo Bielsa last term and ended up on loan at Getafe. Leeds will hope to raise funds through the one-time fan favourite’s sale. Eunan O’Kane is another. The Irishman’s loan spell at Luton last term was decimated by injury.

Others, like Tom Pearce, Laurens De Bock, Oriol Rey, Ouasim Bouy, Yosuke Ideguchi and Connor Shaughnessy all finished last season out on loan and have no chance of first-team football under Bielsa.

Leeds have lost both Pontus Jansson and Jack Clarke this summer. On both occasions, it was clear that Leeds were happy to make some money.

Removing Leeds’ unwanted XI from the wage bill is just as important toward financing further recruitment at Elland Road this summer. Hopefully, Leeds can get the job done soon.
