‘Ignorant not to’… Celtic now told they should try and sign 24-year-old Aberdeen player

Celtic’s Champions League exit throws up all the usual questions on whether the squad that Brendan Rodgers has at his disposal is actually good enough.

On the evidence of the results, we can all see that it isn’t for that level of football at least. Domestically, Celtic are still head and shoulders above the rest of the Scottish Premiership but really, it is Europe where the fans want to see progress.

And for that, you need the right kind of player. Which makes this next suggestion by Peter Grant an interesting one.

Aberdeen’s Bojan Miovski has been attracting a lot of attention recently. The North Macedonian has been scoring for The Dons domestically and in Europe.

And internationally, he just gave England a serious headache after he won a penalty in the 1-1 draw with Gareth Southgate’s men.

And when asked if Celtic should look to add him to the squad, Grant was unequivocal in his answer.

Grant said [The Go Radio Football Show], “I think for anybody who’s scoring goals you always have to have a look at him. You would be ignorant not to.”

Celtic are at a point right now where they need to get their recruitment right. They cannot afford to sign any more project players.

Limping out of Europe without so much as a fight and now seeing a decent challenge to the league being brought forward from Ibrox, Rodgers can ill afford to get his next couple of signings wrong.

Whoever he intends to bring in during the January window must be first-team-ready and hit the ground running.

Is Miovski the player to do that? His goalscoring record would certainly point to it and he would give a different option up front for Kyogo.
