John Hartson says Celtic have a player right now who is genuinely ‘world-class’

There are many players you could say that have played for Celtic who have been world-class. And I mean genuinely world-class.

Going as far back as the Lisbon Lions, Jimmy Johnstone, Billy McNeill and Tommy Gemmell are just a few of the names from that legendary side that you would say was world-class.

In more recent times, Henrik Larsson is another as is Virgil van Dijk. And I would stick my neck on the line and say Lubo Moravcik was also world-class. The things he could do with a ball with both feet was just phenomenal.

But John Hartson believes that Celtic do have a player currently at the club who is in that elite bracket.

The former Celtic hero was discussing the striking options at Celtic when he said Kyogo Furuhashi is one of the best strikers in the world.

Hartson said [The Go Radio Football Show], “I know Kyogo is on a different level. He’s world-class.

“You can always rely on Kyogo.”

Kyogo Furuhashi is a brilliant Celtic striker

Kyogo has been superb for Celtic. Since joining in the summer of 2021, the Japanese striker has netted 62 goals for the club.

In his first season, the 28-year-old single-handedly won the League Cup for Celtic with his two goals against Hibs as the Hoops came back from 1-0 down to win the final.

Then he repeated the feat again against Rangers the following season as Celtic retained the trophy in a brilliant match at Hampden.

Now that Kyogo has scored at Champions League level, he has proven that he can do the business against some of the best defences in Europe.

The £4.6m signing from Vissel Kobe has been a bargain at that price. That’s just over £74k per goal and he has been worth every single penny.

In other news, Crystal Palace are now interested in signing 22-year-old Celtic player in January
