‘Our best goalscorer’… Matt O’Riley blown away by 28-year-old Celtic player’s finishing ability

If there is one thing that the Celtic fans are enjoying right now is the team’s ability to score goals from anywhere in the pitch.

They have David Turnbull rifling them in from distance, Luis Palma smashing them in from difficult angles and now Hyeongyu Oh placing shots with aplomb into the opposition’s net.

But none of them come close to Kyogo Furuhashi. That’s according to Celtic midfielder, Matt O’Riley. The 22-year-old is currently on international duty with Denmark and he has been speaking very highly of his Hoops teammate.

The Dane has spoken about the relationship he currently enjoys with the Japanese striker but has also said that he has been seriously impressed with his ability to finish chances.

O’Riley said [Daily Record], “He’s a nice man! Me and him have a really good relationship on the pitch and I think probably 70 percent of the assists for Celtic have been for him.

“That shows how good he is to play with and how easy is to play with him.

“His movement’s top class. I actually think we need to use his runs a little bit more because his movement’s so good.

“He deserves the ball to be given to him because he works hard to create the space for himself. We need to keep utilising him because he’s our best goalscorer and that would be helpful going forwards.”

Kyogo is certainly Celtic’s most ‘deadly‘ weapon. The Samurai Blue has scored 62 goals for Celtic since his £4.6m move from Vissel Kobe over two seasons ago.

And whilst his role within the Celtic team has changed, his scoring ability and instincts have not.

Celtic fans saw against Aberdeen that he still has that nous to get in at the near post and the burst of pace to get past defenders and that’s what makes him so dangerous for their rivals.

Kyogo is just going to keep getting better and better this season and at just 29, he still has his best years ahead of him.
