Jurgen Klopp is a fan of Bayern Munich midfielder who’s slower than James Milner

Liverpool did plenty of work on their midfield in the summer, but they may not be finished yet.

Indeed, while the Reds brought in four new midfield players during the last transfer window, it still feels as though they’re one short in that department.

After the departure of Fabinho, the Reds still don’t have a true quality number six in their side to sit in front of the defence and hold down the midfield.

January reinforcements could be on the way, and according to Christian Falk, speaking to CaughtOffside, Joshua Kimmich could be a player the Reds turn towards as Jurgen Klopp is said to be a fan of the German’s talents and he could soon be on the market.

Jurgen Klopp is a fan of Joshua Kimmich

Falk shared what he knows about the midfielder.

“Pep Guardiola is considered a big fan of Kimmich after having initially discovered and promoted him in Munich. The City coach appreciates Kimmich’s versatility as he can play in many positions,” Falk said.

“But Jürgen Klopp also knows Kimmich’s strengths, which would suit Liverpool FC well. The poker for Kimmich could soon be open.”

Can Joshua Kimmich do it in the Premier League?

Joshua Kimmich is undoubtedly a top-class footballer, but we can’t help but question whether or not his abilities are suited to the Premier League.

He’s a brilliant distributor and a fantastic reader of the game, but he’s not the fastest and that may prove to be his downfall in this league.

According to The Speeds Database, Kimmich is actually slower than James Milner, and as any Liverpool fan will tell you, Milner’s lack of speed became a real problem towards the end of his time at Anfield.

We’ve seen plenty of Bundesliga stars come to England and struggle in the past, and we have to worry that Kimmich could befall the same fate.
