Liverpool get response after expressing interest in £15m Brazilian star

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have expressed their interest in signing Douglas Luiz from Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.

That is according to 90min, which has noted two big hurdles that Liverpool are facing in their quest to sign Luiz.

So, what has been reported about Liverpool and Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, according to 90min, Liverpool are interested in signing Douglas Luiz from Premier League rivals Aston Villa.

The report has claimed that Liverpool have “made it clear that they would be interested in pursuing Luiz if he chooses to leave Villa”.

The Reds have received a negative response. According to 90min, Liverpool have “not received any encouragement” that the £15 million (Sky Sports) Brazil international midfielder could move to Anfield.

Villa are ‘adamant” that they will not sell Luiz in the January transfer window. After all, the Villans are doing well under former Arsenal manager Unai Emery and are in the running for the Premier League top four.

Liverpool are facing another potential hurdle in their quest to sign Luiz, who played well against Tottenham Hotspur this past weekend.

90min has noted that Arsenal and Manchester City are also keen on the 25-year-old. Gunners Sporting Director Edu personally wants his Brazilian compatriot at the Emirates Stadium.

Liverpool should forget about signing Douglas Luiz in January

In my view, Liverpool should not even try to sign Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa in the January transfer window. I do not think that the Villans will sell the midfielder in the middle of the season.

Of course, we know that in football money talks. But, are Liverpool going to offer something ridiculous for Luiz? Are the Reds really ready to pay £80 million or £90 million for the Brazilian?

I do not think so. As I have already noted above. Villa are doing extremely well under Emery. The Villans are a big and established club in the Premier League and are not in desperate need of money.
