Premier League manager has little desire to sell 27-year-old player to Liverpool in January

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool could struggle to sign Kalvin Phillips from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

That is according to CM, which has noted the problem that Liverpool are facing in their quest to bring Phillips to Anfield.

So, what is being reported about Liverpool and Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, according to CM, Liverpool want to sign Kalvin Phillips from Premier League rivals Manchester City in the January transfer window.

Newcastle United and Juventus are also keen on Phillips. Arsenal have been linked as well with the 27-year-old England international midfielder.

However, according to the report in the Italian news outlet, City manager Pep Guardiola “has little desire” to send Phillips to a direct Premier League rival such as Liverpool.

After all, Liverpool are one of City’s main rivals for the Premier League title.

Manchester City should not sell Kalvin Phillips to Liverpool

In my opinion, Manchester City should not sell Kalvin Phillips to Liverpool in the January transfer window.

Liverpool are one of City’s main challengers for the Premier League title, perhaps even the main.

The Reds have consistently pushed Pep Guardiola’s side. Phillips would only enhance Liverpool’s chances and would make them better in the middle of the park.

Although the 27-year-old has not been a success at City, he was one of the best players in the Premier League during his time at Leeds.

I believe that under Klopp and if played regularly, Phillips would recover the form that he showed at Leeds.

City have to be wary of that. Pep Guardiola sold Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal, and now the Gunners are challenging for the Premier League title.

Phillips has made 65 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. The England international has scored one goal and given three assists in those games.
