Tottenham Hotspur ready to pay £26m for player Jorginho thinks has a ‘great’ personality

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to make a move for AS Roma defensive midfielder Bryan Cristante.

That is according to a report in TMW, which has added how much Tottenham are willing to pay for Cristante.

So, what has been reported about Tottenham Hotspur and Bryan Cristante? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, according to a report in TMW, Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Bryan Cristante from AS Roma.

Spurs want to make a deal for Cristante in the summer of 2024 and are ready to pay €30 million (£26.25 million) for the defensive midfielder.

The report has noted that Roma, now managed by former Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho, would find it hard to turn down that kind of money for the Italy international.

Aston Villa have been linked with the former AC Milan and Benfica midfielder as well.

Bryan Cristante could make an immediate impact at Tottenham Hotspur

In my opinion, Bryan Cristante would be a good signing for Tottenham Hotspur, especially for £26 million.

Cristante is 28 now and is at the top of his game at the moment. I believe that the Italian would make Spurs better and more competent in the middle of the park.

The Italian plays primarily as a defensive midfielder, but he has been deployed in central defence as well.

TMW has noted that Roma coach Jose Mourinho has played him as a “trequartista” too and considers him “indispensable” in his team.

Cristante has scored two goals and given two assists in 12 Serie A matches this season. The midfielder has also given one assist in four UEFA Europa League games.

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho plays with Cristante for the Italy national football team.

They won the UEFA European Championship in 2020. Jorginho rates his Italian compatriot highly, telling RomaPress last week that Cristante is “growing” and has a “great” personality.

Now, I know that there is always scepticism when players from Serie A come to the Premier League.

But, let me point out that Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur did not take much time to settle into life in the top flight of English football and have been successful at Spurs already.
