‘A bigger miss’… Danny Murphy says there’s a player Arsenal are now missing more than Gabriel Jesus

Arsenal haven’t been at their best as of late.

They’ve lost two of their last three games, and it’s not a coincidence that their recent downturn in form has coincided with a few injury problems.

The likes of Gabriel Jesus, Thomas Partey and Jurrien Timber are all out of action, while Martin Odegaard has also missed the last two games.

Speaking on Five, Danny Murphy has been discussing some of Arsenal’s ongoing issues with injuries, and he stated that he believes Arsenal are missing Odegaard more than they’re missing Jesus at the moment.

Odegaard a big miss

Murphy spoke about the Gunners’ ongoing injury issues.

“I think Odegaard is a bigger miss than Jesus, I think Odegaard is a bigger miss, but Jesus is more physical than Nketiah, I get it, you need someone who can hold it up,” Murphy said.

Huge miss

Murphy is absolutely right, Odegaard is a bigger miss than Jesus.

Not only is the Norwegian Arsenal’s most important playmaker, he’s also one of their key goalscorers too.

Yes, Jesus is the starting striker, but last season, Odegaard did outscore the Brazilian, and his contributions in the final third are being sorely missed.

Eddie Nketiah has really stepped up in Jesus’s absence, but nobody has really filled that void left behind by Odegaard in any sort of definitive fashion.

Odegaard is irreplaceable in this Arsenal team, and we can only hope he’s back fit and firing as soon as possible so that Arsenal can get back on track and continue their title push.

The Gunners are one of the best teams in England when they’re firing on all cylinders, but, sadly, we’ve not seen enough of that this season, and that’s partially been down to injuries.
