Craig Moore is seriously impressed with £1.5m Celtic player who’s ‘shone’ in the Champions League

Celtic’s run in the Champions League this season, if we are all honest, hasn’t been the best. Sitting at the bottom of Group E with one point is not great reading.

However, apart from the Atletico Madrid 6-0 defeat, the performances overall have been an improvement on last season.

Those have been helped with the additions of players like Luis Palma and the emergence of Liam Scales but there is one player in particular that has impressed Craig Moore.

The former Rangers striker was discussing Matt O’Riley and said that he has been very impressed with him in the Champions League.

Moore said [The Go Radio Football Show], “He’s very, very good. He can control a game if need be. He has got that killer pass and has got a great relationship with Kyogo in terms of their combination play.

“But he will still make the forward runs himself. So he’s a complete all-around player. Size-wise, really good size. Obviously, he is going to forge a career with the national team and he’s shone for Celtic in the Champions League matches.

“So there’s always going to be hype about O’Riley and I think the position that Celtic will be in is actually when do we sell him?

“When’s the best time to sell this player where we’ve had the benefit and now we’re getting the maximum price.”

O’Riley’s form has caused teams from down south to sit up and take notice. TBR Celtic told yesterday how Crystal Palace and teams across Europe have been monitoring him lately.

With the Hoops midfielder tipped to fetch at least £20m, the return on Celtic’s £1.5m investment is going to be huge for the club.

However, the Celtic fans won’t need to worry just yet. With O’Riley tied down to a deal until 2028, the young midfielder is committed to the club despite reports suggesting that he is looking to move on soon.

In other news, Celtic told that there is a £3m striker in Scotland that they can get to replace Kyogo Furuhashi in January
