Manchester United have ‘inquired’ about forward Chelsea sold for £25.3m

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United are keen on bringing former Chelsea striker Timo Werner back to the Premier League.

That is according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, who has noted Real Madrid’s stance on the striker.

So, what has been reported about Manchester United and Timo Werner? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United are interested in signing former Chelsea striker Timo Werner in the January transfer window.

The reporter has claimed that United have already “inquired “about the RB Leipzig striker. Real Madrid are “not hot” on Werner.

Plettenberg has said that although Werner is not happy with his situation at Leipzig at the moment, he could just stay at the German club until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old is struggling for playing time at the moment. The Germany international forward has made two starts and six substitute appearances in the Bundesliga and has played 30 minutes in the UEFA Champions League.

West Ham United have also been linked with Werner, who cost RB Leipzig £25.3 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Chelsea in the summer of 2022 (Sky Sports).

Newcastle United and Arsenal were linked with the forward in the summer of 2022 before he went back to Leipzig.

Manchester United should avoid former Chelsea striker Timo Werner

In my view, Manchester United should not sign Timo Werner in the January transfer window. I do not think that the forward is going to do much of note at Old Trafford.

True, Werner is a very versatile attacking player who can operate down as a central striker, out wide or in an attacking midfield role, but he struggled during his time at Chelsea. Werner scored 10 goals and gave nine assists in 56 appearances in the Premier League.

Werner did not have the best of times at Chelsea, and I think that United should take note of that and should not sign him.
