‘To be honest’, £3.25m player shares his feelings on signing a new Celtic deal

Celtic have done a fantastic job in the summer by extending numerous players contracts at the club.

After Ange Postecoglou left in the summer, uncertainty could have consumed the squad but the board, and Brendan Rodgers, moved quickly to ensure that was stemmed by signing up no less than eight players to new deals.

There are, however, two other players’ contracts that need to be addressed. That of Joe Hart and David Turnbull.

TBR Celtic shared Hart’s thoughts on his new deal yesterday and today it’s the turn of David Turnbull.

A £3.25m 2020 signing from Motherwell, Turnbull’s contract expires at the end of the season and the Celtic midfielder has been speaking about that today.

Turnbull said [Football Scotland], “To be honest, I just leave [my future] to the club and the others that are involved with it. I just try and do my talking on the pitch and try to focus on my own game.

“I’m not too focused on that at the moment. You can overthink things in life, in football as well especially, so it’s just about focusing on each game at a time.

“We’ve got a lot of games coming thick and fast, so we’re just focusing on all of them.”

Celtic have a decision to make on David Turnbull

I have written extensively on this ever since the 24-year-old entered into the last 12 months of his current deal.

The Scotland international has been impressing this season with his goal return but doubts still remain over whether or not Brendan Rodgers trusts him.

At just 24, he has plenty of time ahead of him to forge a career in football, but can he do it at Celtic? Especially with the amount of competition that’s in ahead of him.

Turnbull is answering his critics with his goals, but there are those who believe he has to do more than that.

Brendan Rodgers has already spoken about Turnbull’s contract. The ball is in his court. Reading what he is saying here, he sounds fairly relaxed about it all.

The clock is ticking as Turnbull is free to speak to teams in January. Let’s hope his situation is sorted out sooner rather than later.
