‘Really pleased’… Brendan Rodgers says £2m Celtic player has improved so much recently

Brendan Rodgers has been waxing lyrical about one Celtic player he signed in the summer after watching him destroy Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.

The Celtic manager is impressed with Hyunjun Yang and he specifically mentions how he has managed to cut out the mistakes he was making early into his Celtic career.

Speaking after the 6-0 rout of Aberdeen, Rodgers said [BBC Sportsound], “Yang is a young player who I was really pleased with today.

“I think when he first came here he either beat his man or lost the ball. But now you see the development taking place with him.

“Because he’s a good size, he’s quick, he’s got good ability and now he’s arriving into the areas that we want and that’s where he gets his first goal.”

Yang was South Korea’s Young Player of the Year before he joined Celtic in a £2m deal this summer. The 21-year-old has had a stuttering start this season but over the past few games, he has really come into his own.

Yang was excellent in his cameo performance in the 2-1 win over St Mirren at the beginning of November and against Aberdeen on Sunday, he was labelled as ‘brilliant‘ by Dons legend, Willie Miller.

Highly rated by Korea national boss, Jurgen Klinsmann, Yang certainly does seem like an inspired piece of £2m transfer business by Celtic.

The fans will just want to see him continue his upward trajectory right now as the team now look like they are finding not only a killer edge, but also a creative spark.

Yang and Luis Palma are looking like they are forging an excellent understanding down both the Celtic wings and they could give Brendan Rodgers a selection headache once Daizen Maeda and Liel Abada both return from injury.
